Ok...can I say that you are a huge inspiration. I am so afraid of getting colon cancer simply because of the gastrointestinal problems I have experienced already (heliobacter pylori infection, rectal bleeding, gastritis, inflamed duodenum, and other things). But, I am very curious about your personal hygienic routine. Do you use deodorant, soap, toothpaste? And if so what kind? Just curious.
Thanks Jonathan! Wheat gluten could be the cause of your intestinal problems, it can really reek havoc in your guts. Get off it for thirty days and see what happens. There’s a book called The Paleo Solution that explains it really well. Seriously. Check it out.
You might also need to beef up the beneficial bacteria in your intestines. You can do this by taking Probiotics like Primal Defense and eating naturally fermented foods like sauerkraut, raw milk yogurt and kefir, and drinking kombucha tea.
Also I use Tom’s of Maine flouride-free Toothpaste, mouthwash, and aluminum-free Deodorant.
We buy different natural organic soap brands like JASON, Dr. Bronners, and some local home made soaps at the farmers market, etc.
Hey Chris,It's Emily Stuart. I am now following you on Tumblr. I have a question...I thought I read in your blog that you drink Rice Milk? Then I read something else that says Rice Milk should be avoided. I don't like milk at all really and I only use it in my coffee. What about Almond Milk? Is that healthy?
I am struggling a little with eating as healthy as you do. I do fairly well most days and then others not so good. It's mostly out of pure laziness which I am working on. It helps for me to go back and read some of your posts. It kind of kicks things back in. I also get bored eating the same meals over and over again. I need to find some more recipes. Your blog is very informative and I trust the information that you publish. I share it with everyone I know. Tell Micah hello for me.
Hey Emily! That’s funny I’m following you too. Didn’t realize it was you! There aren’t very many memphians on tumblr yet…
Yeah I do drink rice milk. It’s sort of a guilty pleasure. It’s definitely healthier than processed cows milk, but I’ve also read that it can be unhealthy because it contains polyunsaturated vegetables oils like safflower and sunflower oil, etc. and can raise insulin levels. I’ve been drinking less of it lately. Almond milk is definitely healthier, but as much as I like almonds, I don’t really like the taste of almond milk.
Stay away from soy milk.
If you’re struggling with eating healthy, you’re normal.
Eating junk food is cheap and easy. Eating healthy is hard and expensive, but you gotta do it. :)
We’ve got a list of recipes we’re getting together to post on the blog, but we’ve been super busy the last few weeks and just haven’t gotten around to it. But they’re coming!
